La perte de poids radicale, l’accouchement et le vieillissement laissent parfois
un excès de peau flasque. L’intervention pratiquée pour enlever cet excès du
ventre s’appelle l’abdominoplastie; pratiquée pour enlever la peau sur toute la
circonférence de la taille et remonter les fesses, les cuisses et le ventre, cette
intervention devient le lifting corporel. Pratiquée sur la face interne du bras, elle
est brachioplastie alors que le lifting des cuisses a pour but de remonter la peau
des cuisses.

Cette chirurgie a pour but de resserrer la peau
devenue trop flasque, quelle qu’en soit la
cause. Le lifting corporel modifie la texture de
la peau en l’étirant, ce qui rend moins
apparents le relâchement et la perte de
tonicité.

Le lifting corporel peut être combiné à la
liposuccion. La liposuccion enlève les amas de
gras localisé mais ne resserre pas la peau. Si
la peau manque d’élasticité, la liposuccion
peut même lui donner un aspect moins
esthétique.  Tout comme la liposuccion, le
lifting corporel n’est pas une solution à
l’obésité; il s’adresse surtout aux patients
dont le poids est à peu près normal.

Bien que l’abdominoplastie se pratique parfois sous anesthésie mitigée, les autres
chirurgies de lifting se feront sous anesthésie générale.

La peau flasque ne s’enlève pas sans laisser
de cicatrices et le lifting corporel exige de
longues incisions qui laissent de longues
cicatrices. Votre plasticien fera de son mieux
pour minimiser l’apparence des cicatrices et
pour les dissimuler de façon à ce qu’elles
soient peu visibles.

Pendant votre consultation, le plasticien
discutera avec vous du type de cicatrices que
vous risquez de faire. Les cicatrices
s’estomperont avec le temps mais elles sont
permanentes et leur largeur, leur hauteur et
leur couleur finales sont imprévisibles.

Les complications les plus courantes du lifting corporel sont : l’hématome (une
accumulation de sang sous la peau), la sérome (une accumulation de sérum
sous
la peau) et l’engourdissement de la peau. La sensibilité réapparaît normalement
après trois ou quatre mois. Il faut parfois pratiquer un drainage pour évacuer
l’accumulation de sang ou de sérum. Surtout chez les fumeurs, des problèmes de
guérison sont possibles.

On reprendra normalement ses activités quotidiennes après deux semaines et
souvent on reprendra le travail au bout de trois semaines post-chirurgie.

Il faut parfois attendre de 6 à 12 mois avant d’obtenir le résultat final du lifting
corporel.
