Il n’y a pas d’âge maximum limite pour subir une rhinoplastie mais on conseille
parfois aux plus jeunes d’attendre la fin de la croissance du nez vers l’age de 16
ans pour envisager cette intervention.

Il est important d’avoir une bonne idée de
l’apparence que l’on recherche et de bien
comprendre les limites de la chirurgie
esthétique du nez. Parfois, en même temps
que le remodelage du nez, on corrige
également les problèmes de structure interne
qui causent des difficultés de respiration.

Votre plasticien vous demandera si vous avez
de la difficulté à respirer par le nez, si vous
souffrez d’allergies ou si vous faites une
utilisation excessive de nébuliseur nasal.

L’évaluation en vue d’une rhinoplastie comprend l’examen interne et externe du
nez. La qualité de la peau ainsi que les dimensions et la forme du nez sont
soigneusement évaluées. À l’occasion, pour obtenir un équilibre plus harmonieux
du visage, une rhinoplastie s’accompagne d’une chirurgie du menton.

Pour la rhinoplastie, on intervient sur le
cartilage et les os qui forment la structure du
nez. Parfois, pour amincir le nez ou le rendre
plus droit, on interviendra sur les os; on peut
également augmenter le nez à l’aide de
cartilage prélevé d’une autre partie du corps.
La peau et les tissus mous épouseront
d’eux-mêmes la nouvelle forme du nez.

Les incisions sont faites à l’intérieur du nez;
en conséquence, les cicatrices ne devraient
pas être visibles.
Lorsqu’il faut diminuer l’importance des ailes
du nez, il peut s’avérer nécessaire d’enlever
de la peau sur le rebord intérieur des narines
(ce qui peut laisser une petite cicatrice).

Lorsque les incisions externes sont
indiquées, elles seront placées de façon à
minimiser leur visibilité, dans le pli du nez et
de la joue ou de la lèvre.


Un engourdissement temporaire de la peau peut se produire. À l’occasion, on
pratiquera une chirurgie de retouche pour affiner les résultats.

Vous pouvez utiliser un maquillage pour camoufler l’ecchymose qui est normale
et disparaît progressivement au bout d’une semaine ou deux. L’enflure, tant à
l’extérieur qu’à l’intérieur, prend plusieurs mois à disparaître complètement.
